There are several important happenings in the coming year, the most important for us being our 160th Anniversary, on 3rd February. Later that same month, the Grimsby Dock Tower will also be 160 years old and of course the Queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee this year.

Twenty musicians, a chorus of more than eighty voices and four principal guest soloists ensured a majestic performance of Handel’s Messiah at Grimsby Central Hall.

We are happy to announce that at the society’s recent AGM Gordon Watson was elected to succeed Margaret Beardsley as chairman.
A popular chorial peice, Handel's Massiah has been well received in our past performances and is an honoured favorite.
Although now more often associated with Christmas, Handel wrote Messiah for Easter, linking the Annunciation with the Crucifixion and Resurrection, and it was always performed in that season during his lifetime. Handel was a cosmopolitan composer, and while born in Germany the same year as Bach, their careers could not have been more different. Read on to find out why.
If our concert schedule whets your appetite and you would like to sing an interesting repertoire then why not join us? You have a good ear though not necessarily a trained voice, although it does help if you can read music.
We are always recruiting new singers, so if you are interested, drop in to any rehearsal and see if you would like to be part of our group. We meet every Monday at 7.30 pm in the Roy Kemp room of the Central Hall in Duncombe Street, Grimsby. Visitors are more then welcome.
